It's been a while...
Dear Readers (All 10 of you...)Yes it has been a while since I posted. As a looooooooooooongtime Giants fan, it is becoming more difficult to find something good to say about the team this year. There have been some moments of glory, but most of the season is a stinker, to put it into polite terms. The brightest spot all year has been Tim 'The Franchise' Lincecum , who at 12-3 is the only pitcher with double digit wins. And the way it is going, only Matt Cain will even have a chance to come close. Timmy still leads he league in K's and he should top 200 this year. Cy Young? Not for a losing team on the west coast, though Steve Carlton did win one yar when he won over 20 of the team's entire total...Matt Cain; We are starting to see why the Giants took a marker on the high school pitcher from Tennessee: He's good! Announcer Mike Krukow, a journeyman pitcher with his last 7 years with the Giants has been telling us for years that it takes a pitcher about 800-900 innings to learn how to pitch. That is about where he is. He is walking fewer batters, though his pitch counts are still in the low 100's for most of his games. He had the team's only complete game a couple of weeks ago, despite his throwing 117 pitches. AND The game took just 2:14 to play, far shorter than the 3 hour + games.. Now if the team could just get some runs...Good times were had by all Giants fans on August 9th & 10th, as we beat the Dodgers twice on last at bat rallies. Put those smug Dodger plans where they belong. The team should put up a 'Dodger-only' zone for the fans of those blue bellies from the South...Then came Houston; I even turned off a TV game cause I was so disgusted...Giants did sign Buster Posey last night just a couple of hours before the deadline. He settled for a $6.5 million signing bonus, all payable now. They say he is off to Salem-Kizer, long season A ball, which has just about 20 games left. They may being him up in September to call a game or two. Only time will tell. ..Under no stretch of the imagination may Randy Winn be traded. He has been in the middle of the few bright spots the team has had this year. He's a natural lead-off hitter, so put him there and leave him there! Period. Good Rootin' and good reading...8-16-08
