A funny thing happened...!
A funny thing happened to the Giants and their fans at At&T Park on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: Not only did they sweep the series against the Nationals, Matt Cain pitched a four hit shutout on Thursday, striking out four and NOT ISSUING ANY WALKS, which has always been one of his biggest problems: Too many pitches cause too many walks...Cain now stands at 130 K's for 4th in the National League, but...Cain used a little more off speed stuff, striking out one batter with a 69 mile per hour pitch. I might be able to hit that!...Go Matt...The Giants three baby pitchers are still in the Top 10 with K's: Lincecum 2nd, with 143; Cain and Jonathan Sanchez at 6th with123...Note: BIG CC Sabathia tops the league with 154, but most of those were with Cleveland. Since his trade to the Brewers, he has been a major force with the Brewers, who are making a run at the Cubs in the National League Central. His first win after the All-Star Break was a complete game against the Giants. You decide who leads the league!...Dave Roberts is back and played well in his debut game since he went on the DL in April. Timing is good since Freddie Lewis is nursing a sore bunion and can use some time off...Roberts may be on the block, but his $7 million+ plus salary will scare away some teams...Starting tomorrow night: 3 against the repidly deteriorating Diamondbacks...Good rootin' and good readin'!
