It's up to Matt Cain to pitch the game of his life tonight.  The Cainer is just 1-and-3 in his last nine starts.

Keep the offense coming.  The last three games - 15, 10, and 10 hits - that's 35 hits and three wins, and how about mixing a few walks in there too.  Some Giants (Winn, Sandoval, Velez, Sanchez) were actually working the count, and taking some walks against Ubaldo Jimenez last night, knocking the Rockies Ace out of the game in the third inning after throwing 92 pitches!  Jimemez did strike out six in just two-and-two-thirds-innings, but he also allowed six runs on six hits.

Zito will go Saturday, and Matt Cain Sunday.  Also, it's great to get some national exposure with this week's article on Lincecum and Cain in Sports Illustrated.  Hopefully, they can both break out of their August funk.

Matt Cain must play the role of stopper for the Giants against Arizona tonight.  Not only that; he has got to go DEEP into the game, eat up some innings, and give a bewildered bullpen a break.  What can one say about Monday night's 14-inning nightmare?  There are still 37 games remaining on the schedule starting TONIGHT against the D-Backs (for three games), and then - guess who's coming to town for the weekend for three more games? - the Colorado Rockies.  Is it just me, or are the Rocks becoming almost as annoying as the Dodgers?

All-Star Matt Cain was on the mound tonight, but it didn't materialize thanks to a lack of timely offense.   Cain worked 8-innings, allowed 8 hits, 4 earned runs, no walks,

Congratulations Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain!  The Giants' pitching staff, for a second year in a row, have two representatives on the National League All-Star team.  Third Baseman Pablo Sandoval did not make the roster today, but is one of five finalists that can still be voted in by the fans.  Go to sfgiants.com or mlb.com to log your votes for Pablo, and from what I understand, there is no limit on how many times one can vote.  The deadline to cast your ballot is Thursday. Here's a look at Pablo's competition for the final roster spot:  Cristian Guzman, WSH  Matt Kemp, LAD  Mark Reynolds, ARI  Pablo Sandoval, SF  Shane Victorino, PHI

Unfortunately, those good feelings can’t translate to offense. Last year Matt Cain posted a 7-16 record despite a 3.65 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .235 average. Giants fans should expect to see more of the same this season from a team with one of the better rotations in the National League, but one that will feature Benji Molina hitting cleanup. The Giants will take the approach that they will have to manufacture runs this year, but for a team that finished last season 14th in the National Leauge in OBP, even that will prove difficult. Pity
