Justin Miller

I also heard that both Noah Lowry and Justin Miller were cut loose by the Giants. However, they say it's possible that one, or both, could return at a reduced price. I don't think there's room for Miller in that bullpen. I would also say, he should be given a chance in spring training after having last season cut short by injury.

To make room, Justin Miller was moved to the 60-day D.L. with elbow inflammation.  Miller has been a solid contributor all season with an ERA around three, but hasn't been quite the same in recent weeks.  Most notably, Miller was one of the pitchers who gave it up in the bottom of the 14th-inning in that disastrous loss to the Rockies in late August at Coors Field. Johnson is already making a contribution in the dugout and the clubhouse, helping to mentor a whole stable full of baby-Giants.  It'll be great to see RJ back on the mound, even if it's just in relief.  It makes you think he may want to come back for another year.  Dan Runzler, meanwhile, has already proven to be a valuable bull pen addition as an extra lefty to compliment Jeremy Affeldt.

It was mostly down hill from there.  As bad as it was to see both Justin Miller and Merkin Valdez give up four earned runs apiece in relief of Joe Martinez; it was great to see Ryan Garko finally flex his muscle, and smash two homers in the same game.  Rowand, Schierholtz, and Pablo also went deep in a wild, old school night at Coors Field, that saw 25 runs on 27 hits!  Humidor, what humidor?

That's six runs added to the old ERA.  Justin Miller appeared very rusty in relief of Romo Monday, and promptly surrendered a three-run home run to Ryan Church.  Bobby Howry, who has been buried on the bullpen depth chart, didn't do much to improve his status, allowing a couple of late runs - one of which was earned.
