Dodgers at Giants, Bottom of the Eighth

Giants up, facing Ronald Belisario.

For anyone that cares, Sharks are down 3-1 at the start of the third. I think you can kiss this season good-bye.

Renteria shows bunt on the first pitch. During the wind up, he showed just a hint of a bunt on pitch two, pulled back and smacked a grounder past the out of position third baseman. Fred Lewis gets all the way to third on a close play. Excellently played all around.

Runners at the corners for Randy Winn. No outs. 2-2 pitch and Winn check swinged a foul ball on the meatiest fast ball you've ever seen. The next pitch Winn whiffed inredibly hard on a pitch way, way, way inside. Terrible at bat for the batter; great for the pitcher.

Aurillia's up and he is itching to make something happen. I love having Richie up in a clutch situation. He knows how to make contact. 2-1 hit and run attempt and the ball flies foul. I love the hit and run right here. Rich's hands are freezing in 50 degrees and windy. He is warming up his hands between each pitch aaaaand.... WOW!!!!

What kind of play was that?! Richie knicks the ball for a perfect swinging bunt. Belisario catches up to the ball in the base path just a yard in front of Rich. At first I thought he tried to tag Aurilia and lost the ball, but actually, Belisario intentionally flipped the ball with his glove over Aurillia to Martin, the catcher. Fred Lewis beats the throw, which is off target and late, tying the game. Martin, then drops the ball leaving Aurillia all the time in the world to trot safely to first. You don't see a lot of plays like that one. Bizarre.

The next pitch gets by Martin, runners advance to second and third. One out. Bengie Molina chops it to third. Casey Blake decides NOT to go home with it! Giants up by one! Blake had a good grip and a clear shot and cocked back to whip it home when he changed his mind and gave a defeated throw to first instead.

Sandoval, who was intentionally walked, made a delayed steal to second because Richie is on third. Martin feigned a throw to second then tried to get Aurillia at third. Sorry pal. Richie don't play that. Runners on second and third again. Two outs this time.

Uribe sucks it up with a strike out.
